Musical Theater
This class is for the person who loves to sing and dance! Learn songs from Broadway shows and then stage them! Each class starts with a vocal warm up. Students are taught the song lyrics and music, including harmonies and solos. Then, depending on the song, the number is either staged or choreographed. The Vocal Teacher/Pianist and Dance Teacher/Choreographer work with the students to help them understand and interpret the songs so they learn to tell the story that's within each song. A MUST for the student striving to be a Triple Threat!
Scene Study/TV/Film
In this class, the students study plays, scenes, monologues, improvisation, and commercials. The goal of this class is to familiarize our students with age appropriate material. Younger students focus on live performance, while more advanced students work on both live and filmed pieces. Film students are taped by a professional videographer either in class or on location. This is a must for any performer.
Audition Prep
Students looking to prepare for professional or college auditions are taught by a Vocal Teacher/Pianist who works on individual songs and a Dance Teacher/Choreographer who works on technique and physical presence. Both instructors work with the students on song interpretation and monologue preparation. This class holds mock auditions and dance calls so that the student feels comfortable and capable when auditioning in the "real world".
Tap
Beginner Tap: An introduction to Tap for the Actor. A great way for performers to become more rhythmic, as you are making your own "music" with your feet. Also, a great type of dance for both male and female performers to have under their belts. Both traditional and "street" tap will be taught in this class.
Intermediate and Teen Tap are for our more advanced Tap students. Students learn more complex tap steps and combinations, building up to learning an entire number.
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all dance and will help performers with basic dance techniques and grace on stage. This class consists of a warm up at the barre, combinations across the floor and in the center, culminating with learning a full routine.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is becoming more and more popular in current musical theater--just look at Hamilton, Matilda, Mean Girls, and most new musicals on Broadway now! To be marketable in the field of musical theater, you need to know Hip Hop! This class consists of a warm up, combinations across the floor and in the center, and learning various numbers throughout the year. This class incorporates multiple styles of Hip Hop.
Master Class/Theater Dance
The Teen Master Class and Intermediate Theater Dance class focus on an intensive theater-oriented dance technique. These classes combine jazz, contemporary, modern, and lyrical to enhance the students' technical dance abilities in the context of musical theater. A perfect class for the performer interested in improving dance ability or learning to act through movement.
